Project One How To Read:
Stemming from my own experiences with Spanish, this Telescopic Text starts out with the language in the same way that I spoke Spanish as a child before entering the public-school system. I stopped speaking Spanish because the majority of children only spoke English. My parents still spoke to me in Spanish, so I have retained my understanding of the language, but it’s more difficult to speak.
For a long time, I felt confident that I didn’t need Spanish as a foundation for my identity. As the reader clicks through the Telescopic Text, all of the words eventually make their way into English, leaving the reader to determine if something is lost after all.
